Has imposter syndrome ever held you back? On today’s episode, I tackle the issue of imposter syndrome. I share my personal experience with imposter syndrome and give you a little interesting background on the history of it.
Many of us struggle with this at some time in our lives. Today I want to share my story and give you some actionable tips that you can take to overcome it!
As a 28 year old female in a male-dominating company, I had my first feelings of imposter syndrome. I was working in corporate America as a project manager and this was the first time that I felt that lack of confidence for no rational reason. Here is what helps me and something that you can do the next time you are feeling a lack of confidence.
3 Steps to Overcome Imposter Syndrome
1.Question the Negative Thoughts
Challenge these thoughts. Are they based on facts or just your perceptions?
One of the most effective ways to overcome any challenge is to get into a community and get the right support. You can join us in the Ops Insiders community, our private Facebook group for that support, because many operators have been where you are too!
3. Break the Cycle
Use self-care and reflection to stop those negative thinking patterns. Recognize that you are qualified and capable!
I hope this episode helped you to overcome those crippling thoughts that can hold you back.
“When you’re having imposter syndrome, you want to lean. You want to reach out to a person, or a group of people to help you get out of your head.” -Natalie Gingrich
