Welcome back to another episode of The Ops Authority Podcast! I am excited to share this one with you today. Once you become a Director of Operations, there are many routes to take in your business. Here, I am going to share 6 ways that you can design your DOO business!
The Director of Operations Certification is a foundation for a long-term career. Whether you decide to do short-term projects or long-term client partnerships, you have variety with your DOO business.
6 Ways to Design Your DOO Business:
1.Strategic Mapping Model™
When you take the Director of Operations Certification, you have access to the Strategic Mapping Model™. This is one of the greatest tools at your disposal! This approach allows you to make a substantial impact on a business without the ongoing commitment of implementation. Many past students have said that this alone has significantly impacted their DOO business!
2.Project management
Utilizing project management is a natural fit for a Director of Operations. Whether you are managing an event, a launch, or new products, project management is a great way to work with a client short-term on a project-by-project basis.
3.Fractional retainers
Fractional retainers allow for ongoing operational support to businesses. This fosters long-term client relationships and allows you to provide high-quality services in an ongoing setting.
4.Scaling to an agency
As you grow, you may want to consider transitioning to an agency model. This allows you to scale your impact by building a team. There are two approaches to this business model. The first is serving as the Director of Operations and having your team members do the implementation. The second option to scale to an agency is to be the Director of Operations (the chief DOO) and lead a team of OBMs and project managers that your client may have on their in-house team.
5.specialization
Specializing in a certain area as a Director of Operations is another business model that you can set up. Whether that is human resources, data analysis, or content management, this can help set you apart. This can also allow you to become an expert in a specific area.
6.Intensives
Offering intensives – high-priced, in-depth sessions that span 1-2 days – can provide a personalized approach to your DOO business. These intensives are not only profitable but help establish a client relationship. These can often lay the groundwork for future partnerships together as well.
You have a profound skill set as a Director of Operations and I want you to look at this as something that you will be doing for years to come. There are so many options out there! As the business world shifts and changes, a Director of Operations will be able to provide more and more offers. I have shared 6 of those today, but I would love to know if you can think of another!
