What happens when you’ve spent 20 years wearing every hat in the corporate world but never quite had the language or structure to own your role as an operator? For Carol Burgard, founder of Limitless Collectives, that question led her to our Director of Operations Certification Program. In this episode, Carol shares her transformation from feeling like she was “spaghetti on the wall” to building a streamlined, profitable business rooted in strategic operations leadership. If you’ve been the person leaders turn to for solving big-picture challenges but struggle with clarity around your own business, Carol’s story will resonate deeply. You’ll walk away understanding how the right frameworks, mindset shifts, and community support can help you step into confident leadership, both professionally and personally.

Meet Carol

Before joining the certification, Carol had 20 years of experience in sales, operations, and marketing across corporate roles. She was always the person leaders came to when they needed alignment, systems, or big-picture solutions. But when she launched her own business, Limitless Collectives, she realized something was missing. She had the skills and drive but lacked the frameworks, structure, and confidence to package her expertise in a way that felt aligned and sustainable. That’s when a client who also became a trusted thought partner introduced her to The Ops Authority.

Finding Frameworks for Strategic Operations Leadership

Carol knew she needed structure to build her business the right way. The certification gave her exactly that through the DOO discipline pillars strategy, project management, hiring, finance, and KPIs. These pillars helped her see how all the pieces of strategic operations leadership tie together. One framework stood out immediately: the Strategic Mapping Model. Carol calls it a “game changer” that opened up new avenues for her business. This monetizable framework not only helped her gain clarity on how to serve clients but also gave her a system to confidently step into each engagement as a strategic partner, not just a task executor.

From Scattered to Streamlined

Before the certification, Carol described her business as “spaghetti on the wall.” She was organized by nature but struggled with how to present herself, package her offers, and establish boundaries. After completing the program, everything changed. Carol gained confidence, credibility, and clarity. She now has a clear framework for delivery, knows exactly what she needs to communicate (and what she doesn’t), and has established strong boundaries that support work-life harmony. The shift wasn’t just professional, it was deeply personal. Today, Carol focuses on mentoring entrepreneurs, helping them align their vision with operational systems that actually work.

The Power of Mentorship and Coaching

Throughout the episode, Carol and I explore the role of mentorship and coaching in strategic operations leadership. Carol realized that what she had been calling “mentorship” was actually coaching, a skill she had been exercising for years without fully owning it. Whether working with clients, leading teams, or supporting her community, Carol’s natural ability to listen, understand, and guide became the foundation of her business. She now serves entrepreneurs not just with operational support but with the kind of coaching that helps them identify what’s missing and move forward with intention.

Support That Makes the Difference

One of Carol’s favorite parts of the certification was working with her accountability advisor, Gabbie. Carol describes the experience as having a thought partner in the ring with her. Gabbie checked in regularly, asked questions Carol hadn’t considered, and provided support when she felt stuck. This personalized guidance was instrumental in Carol completing the program with a 96% success rate. For anyone balancing life, travel, and clients while pursuing certification, having someone in your corner who understands your journey makes all the difference.

Life Beyond the Certification

Carol’s transformation extended far beyond her business. On a personal level, she’s now deeply involved in community service through organizations like CanCare, where she mentors women navigating breast cancer. She also works with young, empowered women, helping them understand diversity, inclusivity, and belonging. At this stage of her life, Carol is able to integrate her professional expertise with her passion for giving back, creating a whole-person approach to both work and life. Her story is a reminder that strategic operations leadership isn’t just about business; it’s about creating the kind of life that allows you to show up fully in every area that matters.

“Structure allows you to show up as a strategist, not just support.” — Natalie Gingrich
